The Gambian pouched rat is a large rodent of the Muroidea family. It is found in Sub Sahara Africa, and it is mainly nocturnal. They are omnivorous and eat termites, other insects, vegetables, crabs, snails and palm fruit. They are a invasive species in the US mainly in the Grassy Keys of the Florida Key. But these rodents are being used as Bomb Sniffing Rats. They are a feather weight so the Mines will not blow up. With lots of training they can sniff out mines with a trainer.
